High School Principal's Welcome: Mark Pleasants
Dear APAC Guests,
It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to Taejon Christian International School, and on behalf of the TCIS community, I would like to welcome you to Korea, to the city of Daejeon and to our school. We are excited to have this opportunity to host the Asia Pacific Activities Conference (APAC) Pacific Division Theater Festival for 2011.
Our school has a proud tradition of Christian international education here in East Asia. Korea is a truly "dynamic" country that has overcome great challenges over the last fifty years and is now one of the most respected nations in the world. The city of Daejeon is the center of science and technology in Ko-rea, and it also prides itself on its many cultural and artistic contributions within the country. In fact, Korea is now going through a cultural resurgence that is influencing both Asia and the rest of the world.
Also, it is with honor that we host this event for you as part of the Asia Pacific Activities Conference. The goals of APAC fit so well with the goals of our school, as we look forward to sharing great experi-ences, building relationships, and learning more about you and your communities. Over the last two years, our students and teachers have come back from APAC events impressed with your schools and your gracious hospitality. We hope that you will get to know our school community and gain a taste for what Korea has to offer. Please let us know if there is anything more we can do to make your visit pleas-ant and comfortable in the next several days.
Thus, as we begin the APAC Pacific Division Theater Festival, we wish each and every one of you great success as you engage in the many theater activities and events. As our theme, we chose "Celebrate" and we hope you do just that—"Celebrate" the opportunity to make new friends, to visit Korea, to learn about Korean performing arts, and finally, to celebrate yours and others talents in the performing arts. Our best wishes and prayers go to you for a rewarding and memorable experience here at our school.
